Reclaiming Black Land in Grafton, New York

by: Posted on: April 07, 2016

Editor’s Note: The Laura Flanders Show continues its coverage of the growing Black farmers movement. Their interviewee of Grafton, New York’s Soul Fire Farm says, “over our history, our access to land has very much been influenced by US policy; USDA discrimination; by violence from the Ku Klux Klan that targeted Black land owners.” She goes on: “in the 1910 Census Black folks owned and operated about 14% of US farms….It’s not so much that we’re stepping into this White good food movement. This has always been our movement.”
