David Maas
David Maas David was born in Buffalo, New York and raised in the Washington D.C. area. He attended Indiana University, the State University of New York at Buffalo, San Francisco State College, and the University of Colorado. He received his Ph.D. in Political Science in 1986. David and his wife Jo moved from San Francisco to Anchorage Alaska in 1971. They adopted three children in Alaska: Arthur, Ethan, and Sarah. David taught political science and history at the University of Alaska Anchorage for 40 years. The family moved to Bellingham in 2004 and David taught environmental policy classes at Huxley College for one year and on-line political science classes until 2011. He has been an active member of Living Democracy since then. He is particularly interested in issues related to democracy, indigenous people, poverty, and health. He loves to hike with Jo, cycle, and trot with their two Golden Retrievers.
