Puget Soundkeeper: Chris Wilke

Puget Soundkeeper: Chris Wilke    Passionate, professional and focused, Puget Soundkeeper Alliance (Soundkeeper) is the grassroots public advocate for the protection and preservation of Puget Sound. Soundkeeper’s non-profit, non-partisan mission - stopping pollution - makes measurable differences in bringing clean water to Puget Sound. Through four program initiatives – on-water monitoring, public engagement, Clean Water Act enforcement and solution-oriented partnerships – Soundkeeper is sharply focused and action-based to address the number-one identified water quality issue facing Puget Sound - polluted stormwater runoff. Polluted stormwater runoff enters the Sound and its tributaries directly through storm drains after rain washes off streets, lawns, industrial facilities and construction sites. Implementing new technologies and common-sense solutions will bring clean water back to Puget Sound and will bring the Sound back to life.A native of the Puget Sound region, Chris Wilke has a passion for the environment and all things aquatic. Through his work as your Puget Soundkeeper, he is on the water regularly patrolling for pollution and works tirelessly to find solutions to our most difficult water quality problems. When not at work, he can often be found on the water as well: aboard his 22’ sailboat, or flyfishing along a Puget Sound beach or river. Chris was recently appointed Pacific Regional Representative to the Waterkeeper Council of the international Waterkeeper Alliance.
